An operator's comparison
FlowLine vs the TMS field.
We compared six systems on the six things that cost us a shipper: tenders, the clock, tracking, paperwork, trust and price. Where another product is bigger or deeper than FlowLine, it says so below. Written by Ian Brown, who ran freight through one of these systems for years.
How we did this. Every claim about another product comes from that vendor's own site or a third-party listing, linked at the bottom. Pricing changes and listings disagree, so prices are shown as published ranges and marked "confirm with vendor." Nothing here is a test we ran on their software. Last checked October 27, 2026.

Where each one wins
Pick the right tool for your size.
- You run 100+ trucks with in-house accounting and a dozen integrations. McLeod or Alvys are built for that scale.
- You need ELD-fed tracking today, not a driver link. Truckbase or Rose Rocket. FlowLine tracks from a driver link today; ELD feeds are next on the roadmap.
- You want a mature, free, do-everything TMS for one truck right now. AscendTMS. A one-truck tier for FlowLine is planned.
- You've never lost a load to a missed tender and don't expect to. Then a per-tender clock is more than you need.
Pick FlowLine when tenders, tracking and paperwork decide your loads.
- Shippers tender you by EDI and the alerts have ever stopped. Nobody else above describes a per-tender clock with automatic decline.
- Brokers score you on autotrack and check calls. The driver link needs nothing installed and the monitor shows your number before they do.
- You've been double-billed or short-paid because the paperwork didn't match. The invoice doesn't leave until it does.
- You want to show a shipper proof, not promises. Ratings tied to real loads and a rate table with the load count behind every number.
